Sketch supports a wide range of import and export formats. With this, you can seamlessly integrate Sketch into your existing design workflow and collaborate with other designers who use different software.

Import formats

Sketch supports the following import formats:

  • Bitmap images:PNG, JPG, TIFF, WebP
  • PDF documents
  • Vector graphics:SVG and EPS files, SVG code
  • Figma files

The Figma importer feature is not available in the version of Sketch available from the Mac App Store. If you are using the Mac App Store version of Sketch and require the Figma importer feature, please download Sketch directly from our website.

Export formats

Sketch can export designs in multiple formats:

  • PNG
  • JPG
  • TIFF
  • WebP
  • PDF
  • SVG

Keep in mind that some effects might not be fully supported across all formats. For example, transparent gradients may not render correctly in PDFs, and inner or outer borders might not appear in SVGs.

Workarounds for Unsupported File Formats

Some applications use closed or proprietary file formats that Sketch can’t open. If you need to import one of these unsupported formats, try these workarounds:

  • Export the file to a supported format from the original application. For example, you can export a Photoshop file as an SVG.
  • Use a third-party plugin or converter to transform the file into a compatible format.
